A series of Friday night “continuing education” lectures for San Juan County residents. Each lecture begins at 7:00pm and ends at 8:30pm.

Georgics: The Greek and Roman Tradition of Farming– Shanon Brooks
While there is nothing new about farming in San Juan County, this lecture will explore the concept of “Georgics” and how farming is the very back bone of Western Civilization, liberal arts education, Greece philosophy, entrepreneurship, and the original American way of life.

Permaculture and Monticello College: Where the Rubber Meets the Road – Josh Choate
Monticello College restores classical liberal arts education with a large added twist, a permaculture microcosm where students (and faculty) live, study, grow food, design productive gardens, restore degenerated soil and landscapes, participate in construction projects and start businesses. Join us as we explore permaculture design through the lens of Monticello College and its Living Campus. A discussion on liberty, independence, georgics, community, economics, entrepreneurship, higher education and the growing of food.
